Inauguration Week, Sept. 16-22

King Concert Hall was filled to near-capacity for the Sept. 21 investiture of Dr. Virginia Schaefer Horvath as SUNY Fredonia’s 13th president. Faculty, staff and students were joined by delegates from 47 other colleges and universities to witness the ceremony and hear President Horvath’s vision for the college.

Sixteen highly accomplished student marshals led the processional march into Rockefeller Arts Center.

To cap-off the week-long celebration, more than 400 students, faculty, staff and alumni joined together at more than 25 not-for-profit organizations across Western New York to volunteer in a variety of capacities. Some used the professional skills which they have developed at SUNY Fredonia, while others simply lent a hand and some muscle to make a difference.

At the Buffalo Museum of Science, bilingual students and faculty served as translators to help celebrate Hispanic Heritage Day at the museum and honor Hispanic Americans’ scientific accomplishments.
