'63 graduate creates scholarship, meets first recipient

Robert Caruso, who spent nearly three decades in higher education at the University of California at Los Angeles, took the long flight back to his Dunkirk roots and alma mater, SUNY Fredonia, to meet Amanda Straight, the first recipient of a Caruso Memorial Scholarship. “I’ve always felt that Fredonia was a special kind of institution, both on a personal level and on a professional level,” he said.  He created the scholarship endowment through the Fredonia College Foundation as a memorial to his parents, Mary B. and Joseph A. Caruso.

Recent Fredonia grad to serve on Golden Key International Leadership Council

Maryanne LongMaryanne Long, a May 2009 graduate of SUNY Fredonia, has been elected to serve as the sole student representative of the Golden Key Honor Society International Leadership Council. Golden Key is a premiere international honor society in which membership is gained by invitation only and is extended to the top 15 percent of juniors and seniors.

First dean of School of Business sets accreditation as goal

Dr. Russ BoisjolySUNY Fredonia has hired the first Dean of its School of Business, designed to strengthen the quality and reputation of its business programs while leading the School as it pursues accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).  In doing so, the university has appointed Russell P. Boisjoly to this position.
